Scottdale Borough Public Announcement

As part of the Pennsylvania DEP’s MS4 program (SMALL MUNICIPAL SEPARATE STORM SEWER SYSTEMS), Scottdale Borough would like to remind everyone that our storm sewer inlets and drainage swales discharge directly to Jacobs Creek and ultimately the Youghiogheny River.  We are striving to educate the public about the drainage systems and the problems with allowing various items to enter our streams and waterways.  Our local waterways bring many benefits to our Borough.  We ask your assistance in educating our community about inappropriate practices that will damage one of our most precious resources.

Items that are not permitted in the stormwater system are items such as oils, paints, chemicals, pet wastes, lawn fertilizers, construction debris, lawn clippings, sewage, and sediments from erosion and trash.

Again, we want to make sure that everyone realizes that what ever enters the storm sewer system goes directly to Jacobs Creek. 

Only storm water should be in our storm water system!
